is seeking a Senior Operations Manager in Mechanical Infrastructure to lead four mechanical and infrastructure units within the Maintenance of Way section. The role will oversee more than 100 maintenance personnel, ensuring high‑quality infrastructure that supports SFMTA Muni operations.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee all day‑to‑day maintenance of mechanical infrastructure functions within Maintenance of Way.
Provide direction to subordinate managers on operations, maintenance priorities, and performance improvement efforts within mechanical infrastructure teams.
Plan, assign, and oversee the work of staff engaged in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, cable car propulsion, cable car track, and LRV track infrastructure.
Adjust plans and programs to address emerging problems and maintenance needs; develop and implement new initiatives to support departmental goals.
Maintain and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Monitor staff assignments, service levels, and organizational efficiency; recommend adjustments to the Deputy Chief Maintenance Officer as needed.
Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Coordinate with Administration on budget development, track expenditures, and evaluate cost estimates for repair options.
Prepare and approve requisitions for materials and supplies.
Investigate field work and complaints for procedural compliance, quality, and safety; ensure inspections are completed in accordance with regulations and standards.
Collaborate with engineering personnel, contractors, and vendors on mechanical and facility projects, including capital improvements and emergency repairs.
Support employee development through training, coaching, and performance management.
Serve as delegate for the Deputy Chief Maintenance Officer when required.
The Manager VI may perform other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Eight (8) years of full‑time experience at a mass transit agency in operations, maintenance, and repair in buildings, stations, or passenger infrastructure, or use of heavy construction equipment, or track work, or maintenance engineering.
Experience including at least three (3) years at second‑supervisory or management level, responsible for supervising staff.
Valid driver’s license.
Additional years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
Desirable Qualifications
Ability to plan, assign, and direct maintenance and repair activities of a large, multidisciplinary workforce.
Supervision of detailed operating records and maintenance reports.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with staff, peers, and the public.
Capacity to manage shifting priorities, emergencies, and operational challenges.
Substantial leadership experience in a senior position within a large, complex organization.
Experience working with oversight boards or commissions.
