on a confidential search for a

Director of Business Development

to help drive strategic partnerships across the West Coast biotech and pharma ecosystem.

Base pay range $140,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

What You’ll Be Doing In this role, you’ll be responsible for building long‑term partnerships with innovative biotech and biopharma companies and helping them advance programs from early discovery through preclinical development.

Key responsibilities include:

Driving BD strategy across the West Coast in close partnership with the regional VP

Building trusted scientific and commercial relationships across pharma, biotech, and venture‑backed companies

Leading complex, multi‑modality discovery and preclinical partnership discussions

Signing multiple strategic deals annually focused on small molecule, biologics, ASO, and multi‑modality discovery programs

Positioning the company as a partner of choice for integrated research and development

Supporting internal teams to execute account strategy and deliver on partner needs

This role reports directly to the

VP of Business Development

for the region.

Has a deep understanding of the

drug discovery → development

landscape

Is experienced in selling or driving partnerships across small molecule, mAb, ASO, or other non‑cell/gene modalities

Knows the

West Coast biotech ecosystem

and has an existing network

Enjoys both strategic account building and hands‑on deal closing

Is comfortable influencing cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced, global organization

Is a great listener, communicator, and natural problem‑solver

Thrives in a role where curiosity, creativity, and collaboration are valued

Experience & Qualifications

7–10+ years in biotech/pharma, consulting, or life sciences services

5–7+ years of proven BD experience driving complex deals or collaborations

Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate scientific, strategic, and commercial fit

Must be based in

California or Washington
