Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Development, the Business Development Director will lead engagement with biopharma, biotech, and healthcare clients across the West Coast. You will own the full business development lifecycle — from market mapping and lead generation to proposal development, closing, and long‑term relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

Drive strategic revenue growth across life sciences accounts, meeting and surpassing assigned targets.

Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities with innovators in pharma, biotech, med‑tech, and healthtech.

Build and nurture relationships with senior stakeholders — including R&D, commercial, medical affairs, and business strategy leaders.

Lead deal structuring, proposal development, pitch presentations, and contract negotiations.

Partner closely with insights, analytics, and delivery teams to scope high‑value, scientifically credible solutions.

Monitor scientific, market, and competitive trends to inform commercial strategy.

Represent Perceptive Discovery at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

Provide accurate forecasting and reporting aligned with commercial leadership expectations.

Experience

Significant business development or consultative sales experience in life sciences services (e.g., market research, insights, analytics, CRO, commercialization, or strategic consulting).

Strong domain understanding of drug development, patient journeys, evidence generation, and product commercialization.

Demonstrated success closing enterprise‑level engagements with top‑tier pharma or emerging biotech.

Ability to communicate scientific and commercial value propositions clearly and persuasively to executive audiences.

Thrives in a fast‑paced environment with an entrepreneurial, proactive mindset.

Existing network within the West Coast life sciences ecosystem strongly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in a life science or business discipline required; advanced degree (MBA, MSc, PhD) highly desirable.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to travel as needed.

Salary Range $139,552–$259,168 plus benefits and commission plan.
