Job Summary
The Branch and Department Manager roles are responsible for supervising and directing the work activities of their respective teams. All aspects of the assigned department must be carried out as efficiently as possible with respect to staffing, materials management, financial management, customer care, and customer delivery goals.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit, hire, train, manage, supervise, promote, discipline and discharge department staff as necessary.
Effectively manage all human resource issues and escalate as needed per company policies and procedures.
Complete recommendations for employees’ performance ratings, promotions, and pay changes.
Provide guidance and mentoring to meet all department goals and objectives.
Manage workload distribution of department staff.
Plan, manage, monitor, and maintain project profitability to achieve company goals.
Manage scopes of work that may include structured cable, audio‑visual, security, life safety, estimating or BIM.
Participate in and/or facilitate the bid process.
Manage all related quality and safety issues on customer work.
Act as the company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
Create, develop, and implement account process improvements.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Self‑motivated, positive, professional, and capable of leading others to create, develop, and implement project process improvements.
Promote the company culture and mission to employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
Possess proven problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills and ability to read, write, and give oral presentations.
Demonstrate high skill level in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
Be able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
Be able to learn company and customer project management systems.
Be able to successfully secure and maintain a company‑sponsored American Express Card.
Qualifications
At least a high school diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum seven (7) years supervisory or managerial experience.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
Ability to supervise multiple direct reports—both exempt and non‑exempt.
Demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks, and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.
Meet company minimum driving standards.
Licensed as required (no minimum education).
