Public Safety Emergency Communications Senior Engineer Pay Rate
$100 to $110 per hour Scope of Services
Deploy and support Emergency Communications network infrastructure, including racking and cabling equipment. Configure and test Emergency Communications network systems. Provide technical support for E911 and NG911 telephony and telecommunications systems. Support Text-to-911 (TT911) services, including SMS, MMS, and RTT technologies. Oversee and support vendor-managed ESInet services and systems. Provide support for Public Safety Unified Communications systems. Support emergency point‑to‑point connections, alarm relays, automated inbound 911 relays, and third‑party 911 communications. Investigate communication infrastructure incidents, identify root causes, and implement remediation. Maintain and test 911 and TT911 lab environments and validate test cases/results. Support emergency communication technology asset management. Coordinate deployments with service providers, neighboring jurisdictions, and relay centers. Oversee vendors supporting emergency communications and infrastructure. Analyze communication service data and performance. Mandatory Skills/Experience (Required)
12+ years of experience in a data center or related field environment. 8+ years in network support and LAN/WAN troubleshooting. 8+ years in communications routing and delivery (Wireline, Wireless, VoIP). Experience using documentation tools (MS Excel, Visio, Word, etc.). Strong knowledge of networking hardware and topologies. Proficient in telecom cabling standards, pulling, and terminating cabling. Knowledge of computing systems and hardware. Experience with LEC circuit termination and activation. Experience with land‑mobile‑radio systems, P25 networks. Knowledge of call routing, trunking, and location‑based routing. Physically capable of performing related tasks. Able to follow detailed documentation and procedures. Willingness to travel within NYC to meet SLA requirements. Availability for on‑call, after‑hours, and weekend support. Strong communication and presentation skills. Desirable Skills/Experience (Preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience with emergency communications infrastructure and systems. Familiarity with DMS and ACD systems. Understanding of ANI/ALI services and 911 call handling systems. Experience with NG9‑1‑1 ESINET routing and related technologies. Knowledge of SMS, RTT, TCC routing, and SMS aggregation. Experience integrating third‑party emergency systems. Familiarity with GIS and location‑based services. Knowledge of 911‑related TDOS and DDOS risk mitigation. About Us
