Senior Architect – WENDEL Companies

Our Minnesota K‑12 design team is looking for an experienced senior design professional to lead our team and drive the design of new school buildings, large additions, and facility upgrades. This role involves concept development, document creation, construction administration, and mentorship of entry‑level architects.
This Position Is Right For You If You
Love to execute project development from concept through construction while working with other committed design professionals.
Capable of leading teams in the creation and execution of construction documents.
Are eager to mentor entry‑level architects, directing them in design, production, and overall coordination of the design process and technical documents.
Attend project and client meetings with other design professionals for projects under contract.
Want to grow into a senior leadership role.
Have a proven record of strong technical design and detailing skills.
Have a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety codes, and ADA requirements.
Are self‑motivated and able to problem‑solve independently, often working remotely.
Hold a 4‑ or 5‑year degree in Architecture or a related field.
Hold a Minnesota state license or are eligible for reciprocity.
Have 15+ years of design‑firm experience with strong design, construction‑document, and construction‑administration background, plus 5–8 years in K‑12 design.
Are genuinely passionate about architecture.
Are comfortable with some local travel.
Have exceptional communication and organizational skills and thrive in a team environment.
Have knowledge of design and construction programs such as Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, SketchUp, etc.

Salary Range: $104,000 – $147,000
