Senior Cloud Engineer – Downtown Chicago – 4 Days Onsite
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer based in downtown Chicago for a full‑time, hands‑on role. This opportunity is with a leading financial services firm driving cloud innovation and modernization across its infrastructure. You will work primarily with AWS and Azure, leveraging Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and Linux/Windows environments to optimize cloud infrastructure and application deployments. This role is 4 days on‑site with one work‑from‑home day.
This is a highly visible role where you can make a real impact on cloud strategy, architecture, and operational excellence. You’ll mentor team members, influence cloud adoption, and build infrastructure as a product that other teams rely on. The ideal candidate is ambitious, collaborative, and thrives in a fast‑paced, technical environment. You’ll gain exposure to advanced cloud technologies, hands‑on coding with Python/Terraform, container orchestration, and the chance to shape the firm’s hybrid cloud platform for years to come.
Required Skills & Experience
7+ years hands‑on experience architecting and implementing large‑scale public cloud environments (AWS preferred)
Expert knowledge of infrastructure as code and automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Strong Kubernetes expertise, including cluster setup, management, Helm, and containerised app deployment
Hands‑on Linux administration (RHEL preferred) and Windows systems knowledge
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines)
Strong Python and/or Bash scripting skills
Knowledge of networking, hybrid cloud integration, disaster recovery, and cloud security best practices
Desired Skills & Experience
Azure cloud experience
AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator
Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS)
FinOps and cloud cost optimisation knowledge
Experience with Ansible or other configuration management tools
Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or platform engineering practices
