EQUIVALENCY PROCEDURE: Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job announcement but believe they possess the equivalent, must submit an Equivalency Application Form including full supporting documentation and mail to the Human Resources Department (this is separate from the online application). All non‑U.S. transcripts must be evaluated by an evaluation and translation service in order to be reviewed for equivalency. The Equivalency Application Form may be downloaded from our website, www.peralta.edu, in the Human Resources area.

Note: Denial by the Equivalency Committee is final and cannot be re‑opened for this announced position. If an applicant applies for an additional position in the same discipline that is subsequently announced, the applicant may submit an Equivalency Application Form by the application deadline date, requesting a new equivalency determination only if additional evidence is submitted for consideration.

Required documents will include:

Current resume of experience, formal education/training and qualifications.

Copies of supporting credentials, if applicable.

Copies of transcripts from fully accredited college or university institutions. (This means we do not need official copies. Please do not mail or fax transcripts. Please do not have your college send us your transcripts. You must scan your transcripts and upload them to your application.)

All non‑U.S. transcripts must include a certified evaluation/translation document certifying that your non‑U.S. degree is equivalent to a U.S. degree. All non‑U.S. transcripts without a certified evaluation document will be disqualified.

Applications and attachments (resume, cover letter, copies of transcripts, letters of recommendations, etc.) will ONLY be accepted through the online process. WE DO NOT ACCEPT MAILED OR FAXED APPLICATIONS OR ITS ATTACHMENTS.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATIONS ARE OPTIONAL, THEREFORE ARE NOT PART OF THE SCREENING PROCESS. YOU MAY INCLUDE THEM IN YOUR APPLICATION ONLY IF YOU HAVE THEM IN YOUR POSSESSION. YOU WILL NEED TO SCAN THEM AND UPLOAD THEM INTO YOUR APPLICATION.

Travel expenses for the interview and selection process will be borne by the candidates.

Skype and phone interviews are not permitted.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Employees must satisfy all pre‑employment requirements to work for the District which include, but are not limited to, the following items:

Required for all employees: Tuberculosis Examination within the past sixty (60) days.

Fingerprinting Requirement within the first ten (10) working days of employment.

Immigration Requirement: Must be a citizen or national of the United States, or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States, or authorized to work in the United States.

Certification of Social Security Card after selection.

Medical Examination may be required for certain positions.

$74.53 – $124.41 per hour (Salary placement based on education, experience and other provisions outlined in the District's agreement with the Peralta Federation of Teachers)

Job Description Summary Duties & Responsibilities: The Peralta Community College District invites applications for our Temporary, Part‑Time Faculty pool in the discipline of Political Science.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s in political science, government, or international relations, or

Bachelor’s in any of the above and a Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, JD, or LL.B. OR equivalent.

May submit a fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in Political Science (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

Equivalent qualifications with conclusive evidence on transcripts.

Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience listed in the same discipline.

For non‑Master’s degree disciplines, please note that the District requires four years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience with an Associate’s degree.
