Job Overview Reporting to the Director of Critical Care and Emergency Services, the Unit Director, Burn Services is responsible for providing consistent clinical leadership and nursing practice oversight for UCSF Health St. Francis Hospital Bothin Burn Unit. Functional areas of oversight include inpatient and outpatient burn unit services.

Ensures the quality of patient care in the Burn Unit and outpatient services. Serves as a role model for professional nursing practice. Manages staff involved in providing clinical patient care. Responsible for administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources on a 24‑hour basis.

Designs and oversees nursing and administrative operations in large and/or multiple patient care areas. Accountable for the overall administrative planning and coordination of the staffing, fiscal and material resources. Assists with the development and implementation of new programs and policies. Direct reports are typically supervisors and clinical staff.

Regulatory Accreditation Standards Ensures that compliance and accreditation standards are met in all areas of responsibility. Develops and maintains departmental policy and procedures, and complies with all applicable regulatory standards.

Leadership Fosters a work environment that supports teamwork, open communication and engagement across the organization. Establishes communication standards of performance, provides timely feedback and assures accountability to establish expectations. Stays up to date on new developments in the field and incorporates such in the department's scope of service. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors, adheres to all policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals, which contributes to the success of the organization. Other duties as assigned.

Strategic Performance Improvement Maintains high quality and service‑oriented reputation for the Bothin Burn Unit through implementation of evidence based practice approaches that align with UCSF values to excellence.

Strategic Growth Collaborates with the physician leadership and intraprofessional teams to explore opportunities to expand and enhance services that can impact our community reputation and improve market share.

Compensation The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $253,900 - $269,400 (Annual Rate).
