Employment Type Full-Time
Compensation $250,000–$300,000 annual base salary, commensurate with experience; annual merit increases based on performance.
About the Opportunity A well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic and operational leadership for its finance function. The CFO will oversee all financial operations, ensure audit readiness, maintain continuity in budgeting and reporting, and serve as a key advisor to executive leadership and the board.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a tenured finance/accounting team
Oversee all fiscal management, including accounting, budgeting, payroll, forecasting, and financial reporting
Manage treasury operations, investments, and cash flow
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards for nonprofit organizations
Coordinate annual audits and tax filings
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals
Engage with board and executive leadership, providing financial insights and recommendations
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ethical financial practices
Drive process improvements and leverage financial systems/technology
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; advanced degree (MBA, Masters in Accounting/Finance) preferred
CPA or equivalent professional certification required
15+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
Proven experience with nonprofit financial management, compliance, and audit/tax exposure
Demonstrated leadership of finance/accounting teams
Experience with treasury management and financial systems/process automation
Ability to work effectively with board-level stakeholders and executive leadership
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Flexible, collaborative, and mission-oriented mindset
Salary range: $250,000–$300,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
