VP of Finance (Controller) – Confidential Nonprofit Organization Location:
Chicago (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 remote)

Full‑Time, Exempt
Compensation:
$200,000–$250,000 annual base salary (no bonus)

Chief Financial Officer

Position Purpose The finance executive will be responsible for general accounting, financial and operational reporting, reimbursement, decision support, budgeting, and internal controls. This role is critical to safeguarding the organization’s assets and supporting its mission‑driven work.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls
Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, reimbursement, decision support, accounts payable, payroll, budget, financial analysis, and treasury management functions
Lead estimation processes to ensure accurate revenue projections
Serve as a financial liaison to other departments; provide training and support on finance‑related topics
Direct financial and capital budgeting, including long‑term strategic planning
Oversee development and maintenance of financial systems and reporting tools
Coordinate external and internal audits
Manage vendor relationships and ensure data consistency across systems
Support revenue cycle management and provide data for strategic initiatives
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA required
7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and team leadership
Experience with financial systems, cost management, accounts payable, and payroll platforms
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience in nonprofit or healthcare environments preferred
Background in complex, multi‑source funding environments a plus
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
