Overview
Genetic Counselor 2 or 3 Cancer Genetic Counseling – Full Time The UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center provides multidisciplinary medical and supportive care to patients and families with cancer. The genetic counselor works closely with medical providers to evaluate patients and families at high risk for hereditary cancer. The position participates in research and teaching objectives and is required to track data and report outcomes. The position may lead grant-writing and performance improvement initiatives. A Genetic Counselor III candidate will have experience co-managing a clinical sub-service of the Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program and/or at least 5 years of experience in cancer genetics with the ability to function independently. The mission of the Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program is to identify patients with hereditary forms of cancer to provide personalized care and planning for long‑term health and well‑being. The program is a well-established clinical and research program with multiple team roles and has participated in groundbreaking hereditary cancer research. This position is located at Mount Zion and Mission Bay campuses and includes travel to Bay Area satellite locations and affiliate hospitals (up to approximately 50 miles). Classification : Genetic Counselor 2 or 3 will be determined based on qualifications of the selected candidate. The UCSF Medical Center requires credentialing through the Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) to practice in clinical roles. Credentialing and approval of Standardized Procedures take between 30–60 days and must be completed prior to the first day of employment. Final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy. Your placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range follows the collective bargaining agreement rules. The salary range is $56.46 – $94.73 per hour. Computer skills and basic statistics knowledge Strong written and oral communication and people skills Able to create and deliver professional presentations from slides Ability to provide oncology consultations and respond to the consult service across clinical programs For Genetic Counselor 3: experience co-managing a clinical sub-service and/or at least 5 years in cancer genetics with demonstrated independence Preferred Qualifications
Oncology background preferred 1–2 years of clinical experience License and Certification
