CorVel
We're seeking a Corporate Counsel that will provide strategic legal advice and services that support the Company’s business objectives while mitigating legal risks. This role demands not only a deep understanding of corporate law but also the ability to engage with various stakeholders, anticipate potential legal issues, and develop proactive strategies that promote our company’s growth and stability. The successful candidate will have a deep and nuanced understanding of our business and ensure we are in full compliance with all applicable national and international laws and regulations, with a strong emphasis on HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid requirements. You'll be expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors, which include adhering to CorVel’s core values and foundational beliefs. You will report to the Vice President, General Counsel and primarily support the legal needs of our CERIS, Inc. affiliate entity, with the remaining effort spent supporting the other CorVel affiliate entities.
This is a hybrid position.
Responsibilities:
Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
Managed compliance audits conducted by CERIS commercial health carrier clients
Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance across all business operations
Act as HIPAA Privacy & OIG Compliance Officers as required across the organization
Become familiar with and ultimately manage strategic handling of arbitration matters involving the CERIS commercial health carrier clients
Address concerns from CERIS commercial health carrier clients regarding Ai defensibility
Litigate or oversee litigation to protect the company's legal interests
Conduct legal research and stay updated on legislation and case laws relevant to the business
Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary
Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to manage the company’s risk in areas of responsibility
Provide training and workshops on legal issues in areas of responsibility for staff
Assist with intellectual property management and protection
Provide legal support over compliance initiatives
Support mergers and acquisition activity and financial transactions.
Manage subsidiary management activities for all domestic subsidiaries
Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school
Bar membership in good standing
4-6 years of corporate legal experience, preferably at least two years at a law firm and prior in-house experience
Demonstrated ability to manage a range of legal matters
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities
Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable advice for the business
Willingness to go high and low when tackling projects
Excellent team player with high IQ and EQ
Work Environment:
Travel required as needed (usually
Must have the ability to effectively work with others remotely, conduct privacy reviews and engage in contract negotiation
PAY RANGE: CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.
For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.
Pay Range: $205,919 – $320,937
