Position Summary Orlando Health is a 3,200‑bed system that includes 15 wholly‑owned hospitals and emergency departments; rehabilitation services, cancer institutes, heart institutes, imaging and laboratory services, wound care centers, physician offices for adults and pediatrics, skilled nursing facilities, an in‑patient behavioral health facility, home healthcare services in partnership with LHC Group, and urgent care centers in partnership with CareSpot Urgent Care. Nearly 4,200 physicians, representing more than 80 medical specialties and subspecialties, have privileges across the Orlando Health system, which employs nearly 22,000 team members. Areas of clinical excellence are orthopedics, heart and vascular, cancer care, neurosciences, surgery, pediatric specialties, neonatology, women’s health and trauma.

Essential Functions

Conduct one‑on‑one training sessions using approved techniques, procedures and educational materials.

Provide instruction to new hires and current employees in various areas of environmental services.

Demonstrate technical skills for cleaning patient and non‑patient rooms, isolation rooms, critical care areas, ER trauma units, and ancillary areas including restrooms, public areas and corridors.

Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers using designated engagement techniques.

Maintain accurate floor‑care logs and checklists.

Mix chemicals according to instructions.

Recognize the importance of how communication is received by patients, visitors, staff and other health‑care workers.

Model the organization’s mission statement through interactions with patients, families and facility staff; adhere to all precaution standards, SDS and hand hygiene directives.

Complete all mandatory training as required.

Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities.

Maintain productivity and volume standards for the facility.

Stay up‑to‑date with all hospital and department policies and procedures.

Practice critical‑thinking skills, including prioritization of duties and responding to statistical cleaning requests.

Identify and utilize appropriate resources to address concerns and ensure follow‑through.

Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements.

Operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment used for cleaning and disinfecting.

Assist in onboarding new Environmental Services Technicians I‑V.

Instruct proper procedures for replenishing supplies.

Use the hospital bed‑management system as part of routine operations.

Provide comprehensive oversight of the shift.

Offer sixty‑day evaluations of new hires and assist with annual competency assessments.

Interface with supervisors, office coordinators, operations managers and the director.

Proactively handle improvement opportunities and lead or participate in performance‑improvement projects.

Research, coordinate and implement core training programs and systems (cleaning and disinfection practices, protocols, auditing tools, competencies, job aids, in‑services, skills labs).

Develop and utilize evaluation systems to measure effectiveness of educational activities and adjust programs accordingly.

Collaboratively select training materials with the department director or manager.

Maintain and organize training materials and validate employee competency to meet accreditation requirements.

Establish the EVS annual continuing‑education calendar.

Compile training evaluations and critique reports for each trainee.

Report unsafe situations and submit engineering service requests for repairs.

Maintain reasonable attendance per Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA and other state and local standards.

Ensure compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

Education / Training High school diploma or GED.

Licensure / Certification

DOT (Department of Transportation) certification within the first 90 days of employment.

CSCT (Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician) within the first year.

CHEST (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional Experience) within the first year.

Experience

Five (5) years of health‑care environmental services experience.

Analytical and oral communication skills.

Bed‑management systems experience.
