Job Posting Title: Operation Manager

Position Summary Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising warehousing, receiving, and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. The role involves planning inbound and outbound volume, customer communication, space utilization, equipment management, and people management.
Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality and to comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably.
Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals, complying with client SLAs.
Drive continuous improvement efforts and propose efficient operations and cost‑saving measures.
Meet all client specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
Apply sound communication and motivational techniques to supervise fairly and equitably.
Collaborate with Human Resources to create hiring, training, and development programs.
Leverage the skills of the right people at the right time to deliver results.
Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues.
Plan daily work schedule, review work orders, and assign duties to warehouse staff.
Review volume demands to plan warehouse space reorganization.
Ensure effective training and adherence to SOPs.
Maintain motivation among team members for customer satisfaction.
Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
Support adherence to standard operating procedures.
Conduct routine staff meetings to review daily and weekly activities.
Management Information Systems
Ensure team is trained and efficient in required information systems, including WMS.
Purchase necessary software and hardware in accordance with IT policies.
Remain knowledgeable of changes in hardware and software technology.
Develop proficiency in client systems.
Customer Management
Maintain high‑level customer service standards for all functions.
Ensure client accounts receive required operational and administrative support.
Maintain contact with all functions and respond to requests.
Attend or lead meetings with key customers to discuss issues.
Coordinate management of supplier/customer visits to the site.
Promote a positive relationship with clients through excellent service.
Budgeting/Financials
Support the development of an annual operating budget.
Develop and manage controls to ensure service level and operational performance goals are met within cost, revenue, and profit parameters.
Assist in budgeting and pricing activities to ensure compliance with contract guidelines.
Equipment & Facilities
Manage programs for maintaining sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment standards, including MHE.
Ensure team members are trained on MHE.
Keep informed of new technology and make recommendations as applicable.
Safety
Achieve company safety goals such as IFR by establishing a proactive safety culture.
Audit warehouse for safety, security, and quality compliance.
Ensure adherence to all federal, provincial, or statutory H&S requirements.
Other Duties
Work overtime as dictated by business needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
7 years’ experience in logistics/distribution/related environment.
5 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
Ability to work in unregulated temperatures varying from mild to moderate throughout the year.
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
Proficient in applicable WMS systems.
Language Skills
English – reading, writing, verbal.
Business communication proficiency at all levels.
Additional Skills & Abilities
Strong attention to detail and timely job completion.
Good organizational, personnel, communication, leadership, and planning skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
Participate in cross‑training initiatives.
Adaptable to change and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
