CNC ID/OD Grinding Supervisor

Description We are seeking an experienced CNC ID/OD Grinding Supervisor to lead a high‑precision grinding department focused on tight tolerances, excellent surface finish, and repeatable results. This is a hands‑on leadership role combining shop‑floor problem solving with daily workflow ownership—keeping jobs moving, supporting machinists, and continuously improving processes, quality, and throughput. Experience with Studer and Voumard machines is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

Lead daily workflow, job priority, and output for the grinding department

Support and oversee setup, programming, and operation of CNC ID/OD grinders

Optimize processes: wheel selection, dressing, tooling/fixturing, speeds/feeds, coolant

Troubleshoot grinding issues (finish, size, chatter, taper, burn) and drive root‑cause fixes

Train and mentor machinists; enforce strong inspection and quality standards

Partner with Engineering/Quality/Planning to reduce scrap and increase throughput

Requirements

Strong experience in CNC ID/OD grinding in a precision manufacturing setting

Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and achieve high‑quality surface finishes

Solid knowledge of grinding fundamentals, setup practices, and process control

Leadership/mentoring experience and strong problem‑solving skills

Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and gauges.

Strong math and measuring skills

Ability to operate large overhead crane and operate forklift

Ability to lift 50 lbs.
