OD/ID Grinder Machinist

The OD/ID Grinder is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining an OD/ID grinding machine to produce precision components according to specifications. This position ensures parts meet dimensional accuracy, surface finish requirements, and quality standards. This is a full‑time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate OD/ID grinding machines to perform precision grinding on various metal components
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings
Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measurement tools
Adjust machine feeds, speeds, and wheel dressing as needed to achieve required tolerances
Perform routine wheel dressing and changeovers
Inspect finished parts for accuracy, surface finish, and conformance to quality standards
Monitor machine performance and identify wear, malfunction, or need for maintenance
Maintain accurate production and inspection documentation
Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications
2 plus years of previous experience operating OD/ID grinding machines preferred; Studer machine experience a plus.
Strong understanding of machining principles, tolerance control, and surface finishing
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurement specifications
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, etc.)
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or machining certificate preferred
