Assistant Branch Manager
Location: Charleston, SC – Filling Industrial.
Airgas is hiring an Assistant Branch Manager for Charleston, SC. This key leadership role partners directly with the Branch Manager to lead all operational activities, staff development, and strict safety compliance for our delivery fleet and branch logistics. You will be the hands‑on force ensuring our route drivers deliver critical supplies to customers safely, efficiently, and on time. Responsibilities
Champion Airgas’ safety culture by ensuring 100% compliance with OSHA, FDA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Directly lead, supervise, and mentor the route driver team, including performance management and effective coaching.
Manage daily delivery and logistics operations to ensure cost efficiency, optimized resource allocation, and timely customer service.
Partner with HR on recruitment, training, and retention strategies to maintain optimal branch staffing levels.
Collaborate on promoting sales growth and maintaining strong, proactive customer relationships.
Oversee facility and equipment maintenance to ensure the local branch meets the highest quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Business, Management, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Supervisory experience with proven ability to effectively manage personnel issues (coaching, disciplinary action, performance reviews).
Must possess a valid CDL – Class A or B, including HazMat endorsement and airbrakes.
Preferred
Demonstrated retail experience focused on providing superior customer service and improving sales.
Experience in the welding/safety supply industry is a significant plus.
