Summary This position is responsible for making appointments, obtaining insurance, demographic information, and handling telephones. It provides constant interaction with patients, families, caregivers, clinicians, and physician practices.

Responsibilities

Represents department as the initial contact by establishing and maintaining positive customer relations.

Answers busy phone lines and appropriately directs or processes calls.

Completes intake registration process by obtaining benefits and demographic information.

Schedules appointments in computerized schedule system; tracks, schedules special consideration patients, and maintains the "on-call" list.

Maintains therapist templates and calendars for each month.

Greets and processes new patients.

Faxes documentation to physicians and schools, and assists with filing of documentation into the medical record daily.

Manages department cancellations to reduce charge backs to a minimum.

Provides continuous information between departments, consumers and MD offices.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Education: HS Grad/Equivalent. Minimum Experience: Six months. Required: Data entry required. Desired: Knowledge of medical terminology; Bilingual-Spanish or Portuguese preferred.

Working Conditions Manual: Significant manual skills, motor coordination, finger dexterity. Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk. Physical Effort: Sedentary/light effort; may exert up to 10 lbs. force. Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.

Company: Danbury Hospital Department: Rehab Services Admin Salary Range: $17.00 - $31.36 hourly.
