Description Ops AI Engineer Senior (Level 3) – The Operations Systems and Modeling AI team at Lockheed Martin Aerospace is seeking a senior data scientist analyst who will play a key role in developing, deploying, and maintaining AI-based solutions tailored for production operations. This position focuses on applying advanced artificial intelligence techniques to solve complex operational challenges, delivering impactful results that enhance efficiency and drive productivity. This position will be responsible for overseeing development and deployment of AI solutions, statistical analysis, data governance, and big data processing.

What You Will Be Doing

Lead the end-to-end development and deployment of AI solutions that support LockheedMartin’s production operations, ensuring code quality, scalability, and maintainability.

Direct statistical analysis and model validation activities to verify performance against operational requirements and drive continuous improvement.

Establish and enforce data governance policies—including data lineage, security, and compliance—across large volume production datasets, while designing and optimizing big data pipelines for efficient ingestion, processing, and storage.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather detailed requirements, translate them into robust solution architectures, and oversee user training and change management efforts to promote seamless adoption and long‑term sustainability of AI technologies.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, AI/ML or related field

Proficiency in Python and foundational machine learning concepts, with the ability to independently develop, train, and evaluate models

Experience in developing, training, and deploying deep learning models using machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch

Experience in software development, with a focus on back‑end engineering

Demonstrated expertise in statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and performance validation of AI models

Experience with and maintaining CI/CD pipelines

Desired Skills

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, AI/ML or related field

Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or Generative AI (GenAI)

Familiarity with GenAI Coding Assistants

Experience with agentic AI frameworks

Experience in API Development & Integration

Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

Experience with data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data catalog tools

Experience with aircraft manufacturing processes

Strong organization and communication skills

Ability to translate complex operational requirements into scalable AI architectures

Understanding of agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)

Security Clearance Statement This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full‑time – The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40‑hour over a five‑day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
