Overview Application Dynamics Solution Architect - Position Summary Role Summary: We’re seeking a hands‑on Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Architect to own the end‑to‑end architecture and delivery of Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Project Operations, plus adjacent custom solutions on Dataverse, Power Platform, and Azure. You’ll set the roadmap, define reference architectures, lead solution design and integrations, and guide engineering standards across multiple product teams and partners. This role is ideal for someone who blends deep product expertise with pragmatic enterprise architecture, can steer large programs, and isn’t afraid to jump into a workshop or a design review to get to the right answer.

How you'll make an impact Solution Design & Delivery
Translate business capabilities (Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, Project-to-Profit) into cohesive Dynamics and Power Platform solutions.
Orchestrate end‑to‑end solution design: processes, data models, configurations, extensions (X++, plugins, PCF), and release planning.
Run/oversee fit-gap and traceability through epics/features/stories, drive design authority and quality gates.
Dynamics 365 Finance
Architect finance modules: GL, AP, AR, FA, Cash & Bank, Tax, Intercompany, Consolidations, Cost Accounting.
Configure/guide Electronic Reporting (ER), Business events, Data Management Framework (DMF), Globalization features.
Design project accounting and revenue recognition in concert with Project Operations where applicable.
Dynamics 365 Project Operations
Lead solutioning for project sales, estimation, WBS, resource management, time & expense, billing, revenue recognition (T&M, Fixed Price, Milestone).
Align Project Operations with Finance (including dual‑write/ledger alignment) or alternative architectures when required.
Guide migrations from legacy PSA/Project Service to Project Operations.
Integrations & Data
Design integration patterns using Dataverse, Dual‑write, Azure Integration Services (APIM, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid), and Business Events.
Define analytics and reporting strategy with Power BI and Synapse/Microsoft Fabric (including “Link” from Dataverse), including financial and project performance dashboards.
Own data migration strategy (entities, cutover, reconciliation, master/reference data) and non‑functional requirements (performance, scale, availability).
Security, Compliance & Operations
Implement security model (RBAC, record‑level security, segregation of duties) across F&O and Dataverse.
Ensure compliance with audit, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Establish ALM & DevOps: environment strategy, Azure DevOps pipelines, branching, automated builds, RSAT for F&O, Power Platform solution management, and release cadences.
Oversee LCS management for F&O environments and deployable packages.
Architecture Ownership
Serve as the custodian of the current Dynamics 365 landscape, ensuring architectural integrity across Finance, Project Operations, and custom solutions.
Maintain architecture documentation, solution diagrams, and integration maps for all in‑flight and live projects.
Conduct architecture health checks and technical debt assessments, recommending remediation strategies.
Future-State Roadmapping
Develop and maintain a 3–5 year application and integration roadmap for Dynamics 365 and related platforms, aligned with enterprise architecture principles and business strategy.
Identify opportunities for platform optimization, emerging Microsoft capabilities (e.g., Copilot, Fabric, AI‑driven insights), and process automation.
Lead innovation assessments and proof‑of‑concepts for new Dynamics features, Power Platform capabilities, and Azure services.
Partner with business and IT leadership to prioritize investments, define transition states, and manage architecture runway for major programs.
Executive Communication and prioritization
Governance & Standards
Chair the Architecture Review Board for Dynamics‑related initiatives, ensuring adherence to standards and alignment with the target state.
Define KPIs for architecture maturity and report progress to executive stakeholders.
Leadership & Partner Management
Serve as Design Authority across internal teams and implementation partners; challenge solutions, manage risk, and unblock delivery.
Mentor architects and leads; upskill teams on platform capabilities and best practices.
Drive change management with clear documentation, demo‑driven validation, and adoption plans.
About You Required
10+ years in Microsoft Business Applications with 7+ years hands‑on solutioning in Dynamics 365 Finance and (Project Operations or PSA).
Proven experience as Solution/Senior Architect delivering multi‑workstream programs across Finance, Projects, and integrations.
Deep knowledge of D365 Finance (core financials, tax, intercompany, consolidations) and Project Operations (estimating, WBS, resources, T&E, billing, revenue recognition).
Strong command of Dataverse, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), and Azure integration services (APIM, Service Bus, Event Grid, Functions, Logic Apps).
Integration patterns expertise: Dual‑write, business events, REST/ODATA APIs, batch/near real‑time, event‑driven architecture.
Solid ALM across F&O and Dataverse: Azure DevOps, LCS, RSAT, solution layering/extension patterns (no over layering), code review practices.
Data migration leadership with DMF/data entities, cutover planning, and reconciliation.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, and decision‑making skills; consultative communicator.
Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
Comprehensive documentation of the current Dynamics 365 landscape, including Finance, Project Operations, and custom solutions—covering integrations, data flows, environment strategy, and key customizations.
Established architecture governance framework and design authority processes for all Dynamics‑related initiatives.
