Role SteerBridge seeks a

Mechanical Engineer with a Plumbing Specialization (CM-MP)

to support construction and renovation efforts for the Department of Veterans Affairs at the

Washington DC VA Medical Center .

Responsibilities The CM-MP will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to the administration of construction, design/build, engineering and facilities management complex-construction projects. Services will include, but not limited to, the following phases and services:

Pre-design phase services

Design phase services

Procurement phase services

Construction services

Claims services

Administration services

Technical specialty services

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a high-level specialization in Plumbing from an accredited institution.

Minimum of six (6) years of experience in both design and construction.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must be eligible and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance (i.e., pass a federal background check), and complete the processes to receive a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) badge.

Ability to understand and master requirements of local state and federal jurisdictions related to this project.

Communication, language, and software skills to monitor, update, and produce work products with computer literacy.

Proficiency in Building and Other Code and permitting requirements, materials and methods, and construction processes; ability to proactively notify the Government of violations or risks and assist in updating the risk management plan.

Ability to review, prepare, and make professional recommendations on scope of work documents, submittals, and proposed changes; determine the value of acceptable work in place; participate in the task order Quality Assurance Surveillance Program and other contract requirements.

Plumbing expertise, particularly in designing and maintaining high-purity water systems (e.g., RO water piping).

HVAC/R knowledge related to sterile environments and humidity control.

Mechanical systems proficiency to troubleshoot and repair issues and ensure system reliability.

Understanding of water treatment processes and microbial control to address high bacteria level test reports.

Knowledge of codes and regulations related to healthcare facilities and laboratory environments.

Experience with preventive maintenance and system optimization to minimize bacterial growth.

Familiarity with clean room design and maintenance principles.

Strong problem-solving and project management abilities to oversee renovation projects from inception to close-out.

Provide critical review of design drawings and recommendations; strong problem-solving skillset.

Understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability practices in water system design.

Expertise in water quality testing and analysis to interpret high bacteria level test reports.

Knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques for water systems.

Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems for monitoring water quality and system performance.

Compensation $160,000 - $170,000 per year.

A salary commensurate with experience will be offered.
