We’re seeking a Principal SDET to drive the development of high-performance automated test frameworks for our OXS platform — TradeStation’s next-generation order execution system. This role is for a senior technical expert who thrives on breaking complex distributed systems, designing comprehensive test automation, and ensuring quality at scale. You’ll collaborate closely with development and DevOps teams to ensure our test infrastructure is developer-friendly, deterministic, and dependency-free, capable of running both locally and in CI/CD (GitLab) pipelines. What You’ll Be Doing

Lead design and development of scalable automated test frameworks for validating microservices, streaming pipelines, and event-driven systems Build mocking and simulation frameworks that emulate complex upstream services and dependencies (Kafka, market data, order routing, etc.) Integrate test execution seamlessly with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, enabling full automation and parallelized test runs Enable developers to run complete regression suites locally, independent of shared environments Collaborate with developers and SDETs to ensure new functionality is covered by comprehensive test suites (functional, regression, performance, reliability) Contribute to framework extensibility and promote reusable testing libraries Conduct root cause analysis for test failures and production issues, identifying system fragility and design risks Raise risks early to engineering leadership and influence design decisions to improve quality and reliability Partner with DevOps on test environment automation, data provisioning, and result visualization Mentor team members in advanced testing techniques, mock-based architecture validation, and performance measurement The Skills You Bring

Strong experience with C# (required) Experience with C++ or Python for automation and integration testing (useful but secondary) Proven record of building and maintaining enterprise-grade automated test frameworks Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and event-driven architectures Experience with Kafka, REST/WebSocket APIs, and microservice orchestration Proficiency in mocking, stubbing, and service virtualization for upstream dependency isolation Expertise in CI/CD integration, especially GitLab, Dockerized environments, and dynamic test runners Experience measuring and tuning system performance, stability, and reliability Ability to break software methodically and reproduce complex defects within defined timelines Strong communication and documentation skills; comfortable engaging with senior engineers and leadership Familiarity with cloud-native architectures (AWS), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability tooling (Datadog, Grafana) Experience using AI to test systems in financial services or similarly regulated, low-latency environments preferred Experience testing low-latency trading systems or high-throughput financial services preferred Prior experience in SDET leadership or architecture-level test framework roles preferred Knowledge of NoSQL, Redis, SQL, and message brokers preferred Exposure to AWS MSK, ECS/Fargate, ElasticCache, and event simulation environments preferred Minimum Qualifications

7+ years of experience in software quality engineering or test framework development Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience Desired Qualifications
