Overview
The
Senior Program Manager
oversees all of Berkeley Food Network’s direct distribution programs and the staff members who make up the Programs Team. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will ensure the 9th Street Pantry, Neighborhood Pantry Network, and Home Delivery Program are operated to maximize community impact. As a leader at Berkeley Food Network, the

will manage and lead the Programs Team towards accomplishing their goals, improving program performance, and ensuring a strong balance between data-oriented approaches with empathy. This position will work closely with the Senior Operations Manager to identify and source food for BFN’s direct distribution programs; with the Volunteer & Outreach Manager to ensure volunteers are trained and volunteer shifts are staffed for each program; and with the Senior Development Manager to identify advancement opportunities. Using Airtable and other data tools, the

will be responsible for supporting program databases, improving data collection strategies, and running reports on recent distribution trends to support grant writing and impact reports. Hours:
Full-time 40.0 hours/week. Exempt and salaried.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.
Location:
Onsite at our West Berkeley warehouse, with the possibility of one day/week of remote work.

Program Coordinator - Mobile Pantries
in cultivating working relationships with site coordinators at each mobile pantry location and managing the weekly mobile pantry schedule including all distribution logistics Lead the
Program Coordinator - Home Delivery
in coordinating volunteer training, maintaining SOP development, member database management and onboarding, and logistical support with delivery route planning Build working relationships with mission-aligned community-based organizations to support community outreach efforts Provide conflict management support at pantries for volunteers and community members
Data Management
Support data collection & analysis by working with data collection tools across all programs Conduct annual data audit to gather accurate community member information Prepare reports for team on monthly pantry usage trends for food allocation strategies, grant reporting, and other impact reports
CalFresh Partnerships Program
Oversee CalFresh Partnerships Program that supports community member application support for enrollment Attend necessary trainings, conduct pre-screening interviews, support community members with CalFresh applications, engage in outreach activities, and report programmatic performance to grantors Provide training and oversight to Programs Team on necessary tasks to support CalFresh Partnerships Program
Strategy & Leadership 25%
Work alongside the Senior Development Manager and Senior Operations Manager to envision opportunities of programmatic growth that support overall organizational goals Supervise Programs Team and provide opportunities for training, creating schedules, and assigning work as necessary, including operating pantries, supporting volunteers, and building relationships with the community Manage Member Outreach Budget to support community outreach and support Represent Berkeley Food Network as an ambassador in the community at outreach events, engagements, or fundraisers Identify opportunities to gather stories and community impact to elevate programs in fundraising narratives Create and lead Community Advisory Board to ensure community members have space in decision making on programmatic changes and development
Volunteer Management 10%
Work with Volunteer & Outreach Manager to identify necessary volunteer opportunities for sustaining and growing distribution programs, including creating volunteer schedules for direct distribution programs Work with Volunteer & Outreach Manager to ensure all volunteers working at BFN pantries are following best practices and provide performance feedback to volunteers on their work at pantry programs
Organizational Support 5%
Attend organizational meetings internally and externally Support direct distribution programs as needed Support warehouse operations as needed Support other tasks as needed
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of work experience in social service, public health or non-profit professional services organization Minimum of 3 years of experience providing excellent customer service to marginalized, low-income communities and/or successful community engagement with community-based organizations serving low-income communities Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable with presentations and public speaking Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office or Google Workspace Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to occasionally attend functions/activities outside normal hours Valid California driver’s license with insurable driving record. Vehicle ownership not required. Ability to solve problems in an ever-changing environment; high degree of flexibility and adaptability. Preferred Qualifications Multilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, or Nepali language(s) Experience in client-facing social services nonprofit organization. Food Banking experience is a strong plus. Experience with smartsheets and project planning tools, such as Airtable or Asana Strong, in-depth knowledge of northern Alameda County, including Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville, and Oakland Personal Attributes Enthusiastically and confidently able to interact effectively, politely, and productively with all types of people from all types of backgrounds and experience and in all types of situations. Comfortable working with non-English speaking and culturally diverse community members. This position is primarily located at our West Berkeley offices with the ability of up to one day a week remotely. Candidate must be able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation: Participate or assist in physical tasks and activities which include but are not limited to bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, stooping, and reaching above shoulder height to move product and equipment up to 65 lbs. Operate material handling equipment including electric pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, and fork lift Mobility to respond to moving vehicles, equipment, and loud noises/sounds typical in a warehouse setting Work in a warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from minus 2 degrees to above 90 degrees. The compensation for this position is $87,500-96,500 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
