Overview
CT Technologist - ( 250002KI ) The CT Technologist will perform a wide variety of high quality CT scans while providing excellent patient care.
Responsibilities Perform a wide variety of CT scans with attention to quality and patient care.
Work with Nuclear Medicine Technologists to perform PET/CT exams.
Operate imaging equipment proficiently and adjust scan sequences to enhance images when needed.
Orient new technologists to pediatric imaging protocols.
Review department and hospital operational updates via email and communicate effectively with staff.
Maintain cleanliness of scanners and exam rooms; prepare patient exam-related items in advance to facilitate efficiency.
Greet patients with courtesy, explain procedures clearly, and communicate throughout exams; discharge patients with appropriate follow-up information.
Share on-call responsibilities with all CT Technologists and participate in clinical safety practices.
Qualifications Minimum Work Experience:
1 year Clinical CT imaging experience in a hospital or outpatient environment (Required).
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Demonstrate appropriate patient care, technical, procedural and evaluation skills; perform a variety of CT procedures independently and safely; capable of troubleshooting equipment malfunctions; knowledge of imaging protocols and cross-sectional anatomy; ability to correlate patient history with protocols.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Registered Radiography Technologist (ARRT) (Required); R.T. (R) (CT) (ARRT) certification. Cross-trained staff must attain Post-Primary certification within 1 year (Required).
Functional Accountabilities Performance of Clinical and Research Procedures : Work with Nuclear Medicine to perform PET/CT exams; familiarity with contrast medications; ensure exams are performed efficiently with appropriate sequence adjustments; orient new staff to pediatric imaging; review department communications.
Quality Control : Verify exam requests and patient information; ensure correct patient data on images; follow procedures for equipment warm-up, phantom scanning, and shutdown; verify exam orders and charges; ensure exams are loaded into the PACS; respond to performance improvement feedback; track scanner data to meet ACR requirements.
Patient Care Ensure cleanliness and readiness of scanners and exam rooms; communicate with patients/families professionally; accommodate scheduled and urgent exams; provide follow-up information as needed.
Report patient/customer service issues promptly; share on-call responsibilities equitably.
Clinical Safety Adhere to OSHA regulations and department/hospital safety guidelines; conduct Time Outs before procedures; inquire about pregnancy status for female adolescents when appropriate; report equipment malfunctions immediately; complete mandatory reviews.
Daily Patient Flow Identify opportunities to perform exams and coordinate throughput to service patients timely and with quality; communicate handoffs clearly; collaborate with faculty and colleagues on unfamiliar problems; report staffing issues if needed.
Professional Development Maintain RT(R) (CT) ARRT certification; renew CPR biennially; participate in seminars, in-services, and QA initiatives to enhance CT service.
Organizational Accountabilities Demonstrate teamwork, communication, and safety; strive for continuous improvement; use resources efficiently and promote a safe environment for patients, families, visitors and staff; participate in ongoing professional development.
