Postdoctoral Researcher in dual-frequency comb spectroscopy at the nanoscale
Description
The Princeton University Department of Chemistry seeks to hire a postdoctoral researcher for an appointment in Prof. Herschel Rabitz’s laboratory. The position will involve adapting a dual‑frequency comb laser for use in conjunction with a unique tip‑enhanced spectroscopy instrument currently under development in the lab, to produce the world’s first nanoscale dual‑frequency comb laser spectrometer. The resulting instrument will enable spectroscopic characterization of nanoscale volumes in frozen cell sections, providing unprecedented maps of the distribution of small molecules within the cell.
Responsibilities:
Adapt a dual‑frequency comb laser for use with a tip‑enhanced spectroscopy instrument.
Perform tip‑enhanced dual‑comb spectroscopy to identify cellular chemical species.
Analyze and process spectral data to map small molecules in biological samples.
Collaborate in an interdisciplinary team spanning physics, chemistry, and molecular biology.
Document methods, results, and maintain accurate records.
Essential Qualifications:
Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or a related field.
Experience with dual‑comb spectroscopy and acquisition/processing of associated signals and data.
Independent work ability within a team environment.
Excellent organizational, record‑keeping, and verbal & written communication skills.
Self‑motivated, with strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
The advertised position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding. The work location is in‑person on campus at Princeton University.
Expected Salary Range: $65,000 – $69,000 depending on years post‑Ph.D.
The University also offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees. Please see the university’s benefits page for more information.
Application Information: Applicants must apply online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/40983 and submit a cover letter, CV with publication list, and three references with contact information.
