Specialist, Project Logistics
reporting to the
Manager, LGA Logistics .
This position will work on site in Weston, Florida.
Position Summary / Job Purpose The primary focus of this role is to support internal organizations in implementing and delivering their strategy and results. The Specialist Project Logistics is responsible for managing the transportation of equipment and building supplies used on Newbuild, Dry‑Dock, Revitalization and Projects. The position involves managing third‑party logistics providers (customs brokers, port agents, forwarders, and consolidators). The incumbent works with various internal departments (Purchasing, Logistics, Newbuild, Marine & HFAB Operations, Fleet Modernization, etc.) and external suppliers/contractors to determine the disposition of the tools, equipment, and material supplies used on the Newbuild, Dry‑Dock, Revitalization and Projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Direct third‑party port agents, forwarders, and consolidators regarding the disposition of contractor tools, equipment, and materials used on Newbuild, Dry‑Docks, Revitalization and Projects.
Represent RCCL in meetings with U.S. Customs to respond to audits, inquiries, or presentations of company policies and procedures.
Track and monitor tools, equipment, and material that will be transferred to the next project to ensure timely disposition.
Conduct training for project teams, warehouse personnel, and port agent personnel.
Plan and coordinate the transportation of contractor tools, equipment, and material supplies used on projects both domestically and internationally to the appropriate destination.
Handle urgent shipments of goods (airfreight) to Newbuild, Dry‑Docks, Revitalization and Projects.
Provide training on how to dispose of Newbuild, Revitalization, Dry‑Dock, and Projects tools and equipment in the Landed Goods Advice system.
Train internal and external customers on current Landed Goods Advice regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with RCCL Compliance and Ethics and Customs to ensure awareness of all current compliance requirements for Landed Goods Advice.
Develop and update Landed Goods Advice policies with current compliance requirements.
Travel domestically and internationally to vessel port locations for audit and quality assurance of company procedures and policies.
Perform related duties as required with or without accommodation.
Attend daily, weekly, bi‑weekly, monthly, or as needed meetings on upcoming and current Newbuild, Dry‑Dock, Revitalization and Project meetings.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
At least 2 years’ experience in transportation and logistics.
Knowledge of U.S. Customs import and export regulations.
Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university (required).
Experience working with third‑party providers and use of the LGA system (preferred).
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly to avoid disrupting operations.
Certification in hazardous materials shipping (a plus).
Proficiency in PC software programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) for analysis, simulation, or documentation.
Familiarity with JD Edwards and AMOS systems (preferred).
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply basic algebra and geometry.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must be able to make independent decisions with little supervision.
