Position Summary The

Importing Specialist

is responsible for managing and coordinating all import activities for the company, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, timely delivery of goods, and accurate documentation. This role partners closely with procurement, logistics, production, and external freight forwarders to ensure the seamless flow of international shipments to the Bradley, IL facility.

Key Responsibilities Import Coordination & Logistics

Manage end-to-end import processes, including purchase order tracking, shipment scheduling, and delivery coordination.

Work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure timely and accurate clearance.

Maintain visibility on all inbound shipments and proactively resolve delays or issues.

Documentation & Compliance

Prepare, review, and maintain all import documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and bills of lading.

Ensure full compliance with

U.S. Customs ,

HTS classifications ,

CBP regulations , and other governing agencies.

Monitor changes in trade laws, tariffs, duty rates, and compliance requirements; communicate updates internally.

Inventory & Systems Coordination

Reconcile import documentation with purchase orders and receipts in ERP systems.

Track landed costs and collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate cost allocation.

Manage vendor documentation accuracy to prevent customs delays or penalties.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner with Purchasing to align expected arrival dates with production needs.

Communicate shipment status, risks, and updates to internal stakeholders.

Serve as a point of contact for resolving import-related inquiries across departments.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to optimize lead times, reduce freight costs, and improve accuracy.

Support process standardization and SOP creation for import functions.

Qualifications Required

2–4 years of experience in

import operations, logistics, or international trade .

Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS codes, and customs documentation.

Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers.

Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel required).

Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

Experience in

manufacturing

or

industrial equipment

sectors.

Familiarity with Incoterms and global trade compliance best practices.

Basic knowledge of export documentation (not required but beneficial).
