Tasks and Responsibilities Supervises the process of maintaining records and controls supporting the Company's deferred tax balances, including system upgrades and process improvements for tax basis balance sheets and reconciliation of deferred taxes in financial reports and filed returns. Establishes procedures to optimize these processes. Maintains a comprehensive accrual system under ASC Topic 740, enabling rapid tax calculations while linking the tax accrual system with the accounting system. Supervises and trains staff on the ASC Topic 740 tax accounting system and establishes procedures to enhance the accrual process. Coordinates with internal and external teams to accomplish monthly tax provisions and reporting for financial and regulatory purposes. Collaborates with the Sr Manager of Compliance and Accounting to interpret and record tax provisions related to complex accounting transactions. Maintains technical knowledge of non-regulated operational aspects, accounting transactions, energy industry trends, and multi-jurisdictional retail rate issues to perform duties effectively. Instructs and coaches staff to build technical tax knowledge in accounting and compliance areas. Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. 7+ years of relevant business experience required. A Master's degree or CPA may substitute for 1 year of experience. Two years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. CPA preferred. Extensive knowledge of ASC 740 income tax accounting. Strong technical tax skills, including research and tax return preparation. Experience with CorpTax and regulated utility tax accounting is a plus. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex messages effectively. Knowledge of PeopleSoft General Ledger and Query. We offer a competitive salary range of $98,000 to $142,250 per year, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
