Title: Seasonal Groundskeeper (Current need for mowing season only of April - October)
Reports To: District Grounds Manager or Buildings and Grounds Director
Job Summary
Under direction from the District Grounds Manager, maintains the Clear Creek Amana School grounds and facilities.
Terms of Employment
Terms and conditions as established by the Board of Education.
Qualifications
Physical: Ability to work in standing or sitting positions for prolonged periods, endure hot and cold climates year‑round, and have a flexible schedule as required by seasonal needs.
Manual dexterity to operate grounds equipment such as trimmers, edging machines, snow blowers, and miscellaneous hand tools for extended periods.
Capability to operate zero‑turn mowers, skid‑steer loaders, mid‑size tractors, wheel loaders, and other small utility grounds equipment as needed.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds routinely and heavier items as required.
Mechanical aptitude for routine equipment maintenance checks is a plus.
Experience pouring concrete is a plus.
Job Responsibilities
Specific Duties
Operational repetition of equipment to maintain district grounds fully.
Record keeping such as equipment maintenance logs, athletic field logs, inventory logs, and district mowing logs.
Mowing and trimming, snow removal and ice management, playground maintenance and safety checks, planting bed maintenance, athletic field maintenance and painting, parking lot maintenance and painting.
Seasonal Work Details
Spring
Clean parking lots of debris, including sand, rocks, trash.
Prepare baseball and softball complex for upcoming season.
Prep and paint soccer practice, discuss and shot put lines.
Assist with aeration and overseeding of athletic fields and playgrounds.
Mow all grass areas as needed per district schedule.
Assist with playground and out‑building inspections or repairs.
Prep and mulch planting beds district‑wide.
Summer
Mow and trim all sites weekly or as determined by the district.
Perform mulching/inspections and repairs of playgrounds as needed.
Assist with painting athletic fields for practice and competition.
Monitor water needs of athletic fields and overall turf health.
Perform routine equipment maintenance checks.
Assist Building Engineers with moving equipment and supplies around the district.
Stripe parking lots and paved playground surfaces as needed.
Keep planting beds and gravel areas free of weeds and debris.
Perform concrete repairs on parking lots and sidewalks.
Assist with other grounds/facilities projects designated by the district.
Fall
Mow and trim all sites weekly or as determined by the district.
Playground safety checks.
Prep and groom athletic sports turf for upcoming fall activities.
Paint football practice fields.
Prep district grounds for winter months.
Winter
Assist with routine equipment maintenance.
Prep snow removal equipment for use.
Assist with substituting for Building Engineers or Custodians as needed.
Remove snow from driveways, sidewalks, and entryways as needed.
Apply ice melt as needed to provide a safe walking surface and monitor drives for icy conditions, treat if necessary.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Individuals will be expected to be flexible with work schedules and be on call for winter duties or emergency situations.
