Job Description HMS MEDscience seeks an experienced teacher to lead its high‑school biology‑based enrichment program and coordinate logistics for partner schools. The role supports the program’s mission to inspire a diverse generation of STEM leaders through realistic medical simulations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Teacher – deliver interactive lectures, simulation cases, debriefs, and medical skill instruction using innovative pedagogical techniques.
Program Coordination – manage curriculum and logistics for at least 20 partnering teachers each semester, oversee scheduling, materials, paperwork, and survey completion.
Teacher Training – train new teachers and volunteers, conduct pre‑class meetings, observe sessions, and provide feedback.
Curriculum Development – refine written materials, evaluate pedagogy, and support curricular and cultural competency initiatives.
Physical Requirements
Teach 3–4 in‑person sessions daily (75 minutes/session).
Assist with setup of simulation equipment, including lifting moderate‑weight items.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching or program experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
College‑level understanding of biology, anatomy, and physiology.
Prior high‑school teaching experience preferred.
Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills.
Strong project management and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands.
Open‑minded, adaptable, and comfortable in a dynamic environment.
Eagerness to learn and grow within a mission‑driven organization.
Experience in patient‑facing healthcare roles is a plus.
Experience or openness to lab techniques such as ELISA, PCR, gel electrophoresis.
Ability to teach in Spanish preferred.
