Role Summary Intellectual Property Director. Role focuses on managing and developing the patent portfolio, coordinating with the legal department on patent litigation, and engaging in continuous learning to handle highly technical topics. Responsibilities include performing related duties as needed.

Responsibilities

Support the management and development of Vanda’s patent portfolio

Coordinate with Vanda legal department to support Vanda’s patent litigation efforts

Learn something new every day; become conversant in dozens of highly technical topics; develop proficiencies

Perform other related duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate

Qualifications

8+ years’ experience in patent prosecution and portfolio management

PhD in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or other related field

Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and ability to work independently

Ability to identify underlying issues in complex situations

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to juggle multiple priorities, organize time, meet deadlines, and handle highly confidential information with discretion

Ability to make decisions and justify legal recommendations

Customer service oriented with a positive attitude

Willingness to 'roll up your sleeves' and learn every day

Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
