Core Responsibilities
Support the management and development of Vanda's patent portfolio
Coordinate with Vanda legal department to support Vanda's patent litigation efforts
Learn something new every day; become conversant in dozens of highly technical topics; develop proficiencies
Perform other related duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate
Required
8+ years' experience in patent prosecution and portfolio management
PhD in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or other related field
Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and ability to work independently
Ability to identify underlying issues in complex situations
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to juggle multiple priorities, organize time, meet deadlines, and handle highly confidential information with discretion
Ability to make decisions and justify legal recommendations
Customer service oriented with a positive attitude
Willingness to 'roll up your sleeves' and learn every day
Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
Strong background in pharmaceutical industry preferably at a publicly traded US company
Admission to practice in patent matters before the USPTO
Job title may vary based on candidate's level of experience.
