Feed Mill Associate – 1st Shift

Primary Function Primarily responsible for unloading incoming ingredient trucks into correct bins, maintaining organization, and maximizing space utilization. Perform housekeeping, equipment maintenance and repair, and quality checks on ingredients. Prevent theft or loss of product, ensure trucks leave empty, and comply with company policies, FSMA regulations, and local, state, and federal laws.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Operate auto-receiving system.
Unload incoming trucks.
Inspect incoming material to verify condition and quality against receiving documents.
Collect feed samples according to the sampling plan.
Ensure bins and storage areas do not overflow.
Complete and maintain appropriate paperwork and reports.
Rotate stock.
Communicate and coordinate batching schedule and production with appropriate personnel to maximize efficiency while following FDA, GMP, and QC procedures.
Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
Report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
Perform routine housekeeping to keep designated areas clean.
Operate forklift as necessary.
Comply with all company policies, FSMA regulations, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of feed manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance.
Ability to perform basic math functions (e.g., proportions, percentages, area, volume).
Basic computer knowledge and usage abilities.
Ability to work unsupervised and self‑motivate.
Effective communication skills, and ability to read and write legibly.
Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
Preferred Education and Experience
Previous feed mill experience.
Safety Requirements
Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Physical Requirements
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
Frequently stoop, kneel, crawl, and bend.
Frequently climb stairs and 50+ ft. ladders.
Lift and carry 50–100 lbs.
Work in confined spaces.
Work in dusty, hot environments.
Work in loud environments requiring ear protection.
Be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Work at heights of 200+ ft.
Operate a pallet jack with 2,000+ lbs. of material.
