Maintenance Assistant – Savant Senior Living (Arcadia, CA)
As a Maintenance Assistant in our Assisted Living facility, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the physical environment to ensure the safety, comfort, and well‑being of our residents and staff. Under the direction of the Maintenance Director or Executive Director, you will perform various general maintenance tasks, contributing to the efficient operation of our facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the general maintenance and repair of the facility, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
Perform routine inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion.
Conduct preventative maintenance activities such as filter replacements, equipment lubrication, and inspections.
Assist in the setup and breakdown of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for events and resident needs.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, equipment storage, and inventory.
Monitor and maintain the facility’s inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or needs.
Record accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and correct handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
Collaborate with contractors and vendors for repairs, inspections, or maintenance projects.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct supervision.
Education, Experience & Credentials
At least 18 years of age.
Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance.
First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
Special licenses, certifications, or certificates as per California Code of Regulations Sections 85065(f)/87411(g).
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in maintenance, trades, or related fields are desirable.
Previous experience in general maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or senior care environment.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems and repairs.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents, families, staff, and contractors.
Physical stamina; able to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, carrying, and working in various weather conditions.
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with health screening requirements.
