Job Description

The Environmental Services Department on the Manhattan campus is seeking part‑time (22.5 hours per week) Housekeeping Workers to join our team. Shift: evenings 3 pm to 11 pm. Workers are needed to work one day per week plus every weekend/holiday. Those hired must be available for five days of orientation.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager, clean and service building areas, moving furniture, equipment and supplies in and around the facility.

Job Duties

• Clean, disinfect and sanitize all areas of the facility including corridors, common areas, lobby, offices, restrooms, stairwells, and elevators.
• Collect, clean, reline receptacles and dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection‑control plans.
• Clean, disinfect and sanitize resident rooms and corridors, focusing on high‑touch areas such as furniture, beds, restrooms, handrails, over‑bed tables and commodes with proper cleaning and disinfection techniques and chemicals.
• Work with various cleaning chemicals and solutions.
• Move equipment and furniture for proper cleaning and place furniture back in correct position.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
• Remove and transport regulated medical waste in compliance with infection‑control and blood‑borne pathogen policies and procedures.
• Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, sanitary, and attractive manner.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using chemicals and equipment.
• Maintain proper infection‑control practices when performing all tasks.
• Have previous experience with floor care, including corridors, dining rooms, auto scrub, burnish, and strip & wax floors.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Prior housekeeping experience preferred.
