About The Role Wakefield Moving & Storage is seeking a reliable, safety‑conscious material handler to join our warehouse and logistics team. The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials, equipment, and inventory within our facilities or at client sites. This individual should be able to receive and ship inventory and orders using our Warehouse Management System (WMS) accurately and efficiently. This role supports our commercial relocation and warehousing operations by ensuring materials are handled efficiently and safely.
Load and unload trucks using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or forklifts (if certified)
Move materials to and from areas within warehouse
Assist with packing, wrapping, and staging materials for relocation or delivery
Maintain accurate records of materials handled, stored, and transferred in WMS
Perform inventory counts and assist with inventory management tasks
Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and PPE usage
Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and condition
Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum education: High School diploma or GED
Previous warehouse, moving, or material handling experience is a plus in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment
Comfortable using warehouse equipment (training provided; forklift certification is a plus)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; dependable and punctual
Can operate independently with minimal oversight, and seek support when necessary
Intermediate computer skills – to use computer programs, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Outlook, inventory systems, etc.
Highly professional with positive, solutions‑oriented attitude
Excellent communicator, including providing and receiving constructive feedback
Perform job requirements safely with the required PPE
Balance competing priorities and manage time to complete assigned tasks within shift
Intermediate computer skills (exhibits ability to operate in inventory systems)
Able to walk up to 5+ hours daily and lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time
