How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary) This position’s primary responsibility will be to troubleshoot and fix routine quality and warranty issues with Marley Products in the field to improve response time and customer satisfaction. This position will link plant quality with customer experience. In addition to being Marley’s field service presence, this position will be located at the Olathe plant and be an integral part of the plant’s in‑house quality team. This position will spend roughly 50‑75% of the time in the field supporting customers. This employee must be able to diagnose routine quality issues in the field, communicate the plan to fix and implement the solution in the field. Furthermore, this individual must be able to capture field fixes and translate them back to production to eliminate these from happening again. When not in the field, this person will be a valued member of the quality team performing audits, implementing fixes and ensuring only quality products leave the plants. The successful incumbent acts in a professional manner striving to meet or exceed customer expectations for quality, professional and efficient service.
Job Responsibilities
Perform field service functions, including troubleshooting and maintenance
Represent Marley/SPX professionally to our customers and field partners
Clear and professional communication with customers and field partners on findings and scope of work to be completed.
Provide recommendations regarding installation and repair of equipment
Identify, analyze, report, and drive preventive actions on product failures
Troubleshoot and repair controls, leaks and mechanical equipment issues
Document and provide timely and detailed reports of all activities
Travel domestically and occasionally internationally approximately 50‑75% of the time with the potential for this to increase seasonally
Perform factory certified tower inspections as needed
Determine and recommend which products or services best fit customers’ needs
Perform plant quality audits, inspections and implementation of corrective actions from the field
Other duties or projects as assigned
Required Experience
Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 8‑10 years of relevant experience
HVAC equipment service experience required
Extensive knowledge of basic HVAC equipment, preferably including cooling towers and related products
Experience with construction sites / building safety standards and manufacturing plants
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
Ability to effectively manage work, time and customer expectations
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with multiple levels of employees both internally and externally
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Competency in basic computer and software skills (Word, Excel, Photo and video software)
Strong technical aptitude
Ability to troubleshoot process control systems and Building Management Systems (BMS)
Must meet eligibility criteria to access customer sites with specific background requirements
Preferred Experience
PLC and refrigeration/cooling tower experience preferred
Welding and/or coil repair experience preferred
