Position Summary The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising labor management and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities daily. This includes labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment use, and manpower planning. People‑management duties encompass hiring, training, scheduling, performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor oversees the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products in a manner consistent with the company’s service and cost objectives.

As part of the DSV team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality, and to comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities and plan for continuous improvement.

Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect operations.

Develop and enforce systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably.

Implement and report on ongoing cost‑saving measures; provide ideas and suggestions for operational efficiency.

Meet all client‑specified KPI’s and comply with quality system requirements.

Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create fair disciplinary programs, and support Human Resources with hiring, training, and professional development.

Oversee training and evaluation of warehouse staff.

Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; assign duties to appropriate staff.

Review pending jobs or trends, plan reorganization of warehouse space, and adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing levels as needed.

Train new staff and delegate training responsibilities to experienced team members.

Provide guidance and advice as necessary to maintain quality and quantity of work.

Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower‑level staff.

Keep the manager advised of progress or issues requiring attention on a daily basis; hold regular meetings with staff to assess status and discuss improvement ideas.

Assist in physical operations as needed.

Deliver results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.

Maintain high motivation among team members to deliver customer satisfaction.

Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.

Conduct annual performance reviews for team members.

Support adherence and training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Skills & Abilities Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED

3 years of experience in a logistics/distribution or related environment

1 year supervisory experience

Preferred: MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation
