Sanford Health invites applicants for the
Patient Access Representative
position at our East Mandan Clinic. The role is full‑time, 32 hours per week, scheduled Monday‑Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with no weekend or holiday work.

$16.25 – $23.00 per hour
Job Summary As the first point of contact, you will provide outstanding customer service to patients through phone and in‑clinic interactions, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment. Your primary responsibilities include phone coverage, patient check‑ins, and appointment rescheduling.
Responsibilities REGISTRATION
Greet patients and verify demographics
Scan, route, and process documents or electronic forms
Inform patients about documents and capture signatures
Assign financial responsibility and assist with arrangements per policy
Collect co‑payments, pre‑payments, and payments on account balances
Work through registration queue to resolve errors or denied insurance claims
SCHEDULING
Coordinate appointments with nursing team and providers to meet patient needs
Obtain referrals and conduct pre‑authorizations
Arrange interpreter services
Check patients in and out
Operate multi‑line phone system
Resolve queue issues, manage recalls and waitlists, and act as switchboard operator
Additional Duties May Include
Prepare and coordinate charts
Organize supporting provider documents
Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance
Track patient visits and health information on accounts
Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
Coordinate Telemed appointments
Make reminder calls for appointments
Handle hospital admissions
Perform office duties such as copying or faxing
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post‑secondary education is helpful.
One year of experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Medical terminology knowledge is helpful; customer service skills are essential. Six months of customer service experience desired.
May require BLS certification for certain locations.
