Job Description:

The role of the Branch Manager strikes the balance between placing the member at the center of all we do, while acting in the best interest of the membership. The Manager mentors and develops their staff to deliver the valued service behaviors that build deep connections and loyal relationships with the members. The Manager owns and sets the standard for the execution of our Creed – We are here to serve our members; without them we would not exist. The Manager utilizes the Core Beliefs to filter day to day operations to bring the Credit Union “Dream” to fulfillment – To become the preferred Credit Union in Eastern Tennessee, by delivering unparalleled enhanced member value. The Branch Manager leads the operation of a Credit Union branch, ensuring the branch meets organizational, financial, operational, service, and growth plans. The Branch Manager hires, motivates, develops, and directs staff to achieve optimal branch growth.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Utilizes Credit Union performance management tools to improve or reinforce behaviors that result in improved member service.

Assists members with opening and closing accounts and safe deposit boxes; answers questions about products and services; and resolves problems promptly that are within authority.

Interviews potential employees to fulfill staffing needs.

Hires, motivates, develops and directs staff to achieve optimal branch growth.

Evaluates employee performance and recommends promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments.

Processes and closes consumer loans and credit cards for members, complying with all underwriting requirements.

Develops and mentors Assistant Branch Managers and Head Tellers to prepare them to assume a leadership role in the branch.

Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments; sells money orders and cashier checks to members; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed.

Creates, monitors, and manages the branch budget and accounts for any variance.

Participates in community clubs or Chamber events to promote Credit Union awareness to the public at large.

Conducts monthly security units, surprise vault audits, and weekly currently machine replenishment.

Ensures appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared to include budget, scheduling, and audit requirements.

Conducts staff meetings and training; schedules staff and reviews daily time sheets.

Maintains member service standards and responds accordingly.

Required Experience:

One or more years of financial services experience and three or more years of customer service experience required. One or more years of employee management experience required.

Education:

Associate's degree in business or financial management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Skills Required:

Must have the ability to coach, mentor, and build consistent behavioral skills in staff and leaders for performance and execute disciplinary action if needed.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including business writing ability.

Excellent organization skills, time management skills and accustomed to working with deadlines.

Must have the ability to give presentations to medium to large sized groups.

Strong customer service orientation, detail oriented and accurate.
