Job Summary
The CNC Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling and turning equipment to produce high-quality precision components from metal or plastic materials. This role ensures all parts meet customer specifications by following established machining processes, adhering to quality and safety standards, and maintaining equipment in proper working condition.

Hours: 2nd Shift Monday-Thursday (3pm-1:30am) Pay: Depending on Experience Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Programming & Setup
Program CNC machines by inputting instructions, establishing zero and reference points, and setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation values.
Set up CNC mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, vices, collets, tools, attachments, gears, bushings, and related components.
Use basic math, geometry, and trigonometry to calculate machining requirements and verify part programs.
Machining Operations
Load raw material and align workpieces securely for machining.
Operate CNC equipment, monitoring cutting conditions and making adjustments to speed, feed, and tooling as needed.
Perform test runs and inspect first-run parts to confirm accuracy and compliance with specifications.
Observe drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, and facing operations while identifying any irregularities or malfunctions.
Quality Assurance & Inspection
Perform dimensional inspections using measurement tools to ensure all parts meet engineering tolerances.
Inspect materials from upstream processes (waterjet, laser, saw, weldments) prior to machining.
Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments or reprogramming changes to maintain product quality.
Maintenance & Safety
Follow all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance, clean machines, and replace or sharpen worn tooling.
Report defective materials, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to the department supervisor.
General Responsibilities
Operate multiple machines as needed to support production demands.
Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy throughout all machining operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Certificate or associate degree in machining or manufacturing technology preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a machining environment.
Training or experience in blueprint reading, CAD, machining principles, and material properties.
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of tooling and tool maintenance.
Proficiency in measurement tools and fractional/decimal conversions.
Ability to identify common metals such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, and brass.
Forklift experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and walking required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a positive, safety-conscious attitude.
