Head of Finance

Valar Atomics, Hawthorne, California, United States, 90250

Save Job

Valar Atomics is building a next-generation nuclear energy company that is moving faster than any other nuclear company. As Head of Finance, you will be the financial architect of our business during a period where discipline, creativity, and speed matter equally. This is a builder role: you’ll craft our financial systems, forecasting models, controls, and internal rhythms from a true blank slate. You’ll partner closely with our CEO, President, and functional leads to shape the company’s strategic trajectory across fundraising, commercial strategy, cost structure, and long-range planning.

We’re looking for a magical, full-stack finance leader: someone who can roll up their sleeves into the details, think like a CFO, and eventually build and scale a world-class finance organization.

What You’ll Own

Build and own Valar’s financial operating model, including corporate model, scenario planning, and program-level economics.

Develop the full finance infrastructure: FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cost controls, and business partnering.

Stand up core financial systems in partnership with Controller and Engineering / Manufacturing (ERP, procurement workflows, cash tracking, expense systems).

Lead strategic financial planning for fundraising, investor storytelling, and board materials.

Partner with engineering, product, and operations to model production cost curves, CapEx plans, vendor strategy, and revenue/pricing strategy.

Build and lead a high-caliber finance team over time.

Who You Are

A high-bandwidth operator who thrives in ambiguity and can zoom between 10,000 ft strategy and 10-ft details.

Someone who can create structure out of chaos and build flexible systems where none exist.

Experienced in high-growth companies, ideally climate/energy/hardware/defense-tech.

A strategic partner who can pressure-test ideas, challenge assumptions, and drive decisions with data.

A builder who loves ownership, accountability, and shipping finished work.
