About AMP
American Marketing & Publishing (AMP) is a profitable, steadily growing, debt‑free digital advertising company serving more than 20,000 small business clients across the United States. With 325 employees and a highly scalable business model, are expanding our footprint modernizing our systems, and preparing for our next decade of growth from our headquarters in the far western Chicago suburbs.
About the Role
AMP is seeking a Head of Finance who is both a strategic financial architect and a hands‑on operator — a leader who thrives in the granular details, wants real ownership, and is energized by the opportunity to rebuild, modernize, and elevate an entire finance function. You will oversee accounting, payroll, audit, and compliance while building FP&A; capabilities and modernizing reporting and KPI‑driven analytics to support faster, more accurate decision‑making. This role requires someone who enjoys solving operational challenges, diving into messy data, improving close cycles, and designing standardized reporting frameworks.
What You’ll Do
Operational Finance & Controls
Oversee accounting, payroll, AP/AR, cash management, and monthly close.
Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles.
Improve cash flow forecasting, working capital visibility, and treasury discipline.
Lead audit preparation and strengthen internal controls for a scaling organization.
Implement and enforce GAAP, ASC 606, and SaaS KPI reporting.
Modernize financial workflows, reporting tools, and data structures – including NetSuite and Excel models.
Create standardized dashboards and KPI frameworks for a recurring‑revenue digital services model.
Collaborate with Sales, Operations, HR, and Product to integrate financial data into broader workflows.
Financial Analysis & Planning
Build AMP’s FP&A; capability from the ground up, including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
Lead long‑range planning, pricing strategy analysis, and profitability initiatives.
Develop product‑line and segment‑level P&Ls; to drive better visibility and accountability.
Provide decision support for compensation planning, vendor evaluation, and investment decisions.
Lead, mentor, and upskill a small team across accounting, payroll, and FP&A.
Elevate analytical rigor and operational excellence throughout the finance function.
Evaluate team structure and recommend enhancements to roles, capacity, and processes.
Who You Are
10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, FP&A, or strategic finance including 5+ years leading teams.
Deep experience in founder‑led or PE‑backed organizations undergoing modernization.
Advanced Excel modeling skills and strong NetSuite experience.
Fluent in GAAP, ASC 606, SaaS KPIs, and multi‑segment P&L; management.
A builder who thrives in complexity and is energized by creating structure from ambiguity.
A hands‑on leader who sets high standards for accuracy, pace, and analytical rigor.
Why This Role, Why Now
AMP is at an important growth inflection point — expanding products, improving systems, and scaling operations. We need a finance leader who can match our pace and help accelerate it.
You will own the finance function and shape AMP’s performance measurement and forecasting foundation.
You will join an aligned, high‑integrity executive team that values clarity, execution, and transparency.
Your work will directly guide company strategy, decision‑making, and operational rhythm.
