Job Description Gilead Sciences is seeking a Senior Counsel to join our team of Legal Business Partners in Oncology. The Oncology Legal Business Partner is responsible for providing legal support related to the development and commercialization of Gilead’s oncology portfolio and other investigational assets.
The role is office‑based/hybrid located in Foster City, California and reports to the Associate General Counsel, Oncology.
Primary clients include personnel in Commercial, Medical, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Finance, and Regulatory. The legal partner works closely with colleagues in Compliance, Privacy, U.S. Pricing & Access, Competition Law, Regulatory and other groups to ensure compliant commercialization of our products. The role also collaborates with International Legal, Pricing & Access, Competition Law, Intellectual Property teams, and other legal functions. Responsibilities include oversight of communications about our products and interactions with stakeholders such as healthcare professionals, patients, patient organizations, charitable organizations and third parties retained by our business. The partner will assist with and provide input into compliance policies and manage multiple issues, projects and initiatives simultaneously across geographies and cultures.
Responsibilities
Provide legal support in relation to the development and commercialization of Gilead’s oncology portfolio.
Work closely with Commercial, Medical, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Finance, and Regulatory teams.
Ensure compliant commercialization of products in collaboration with Compliance, Privacy, U.S. Pricing & Access, Competition Law, Regulatory and other groups.
Collaborate with International Legal, Pricing & Access, Competition Law, Intellectual Property teams and other legal functions for U.S. commercial strategies.
Oversee communications about products and interact with healthcare professionals, patients, patient organizations, charitable organizations and third parties.
Assist with and provide input into compliance policies.
Identify, communicate, coordinate and manage multiple issues, projects and initiatives simultaneously across geographies and cultures.
Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctorate from a nationally accredited law school.
Admission to the California state bar, registration as in‑house counsel, or ability to gain admission or registration for either within 90 days.
6+ years prior in‑house or law firm experience providing legal counsel on the laws and regulations relating to drugs or devices, demonstrating growth and ability to succeed.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Detail‑oriented and well‑organized.

Salary & Benefits The salary range for this position is: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock‑based long‑term incentives, paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company‑sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
