Senior Water Project Manager
Join Mott MacDonald’s growing Water team in Pittsburgh as a Senior Project Manager, where you’ll lead complex, high‑impact water infrastructure projects across the Mid‑Atlantic and Midwest. Our Pittsburgh/Cleveland office is a hub for delivering forward‑thinking solutions to aging infrastructure, climate adaptation, and water quality challenges.
Key Projects
Ohio River Tunnel – Design lead for a deep tunnel system, first of three built in Pittsburgh as part of ALCOSAN’s $2B Clean Water Plan.
Cohocksink Stormwater Project – Nature‑based solution to urban flooding, integrating green infrastructure in Philadelphia.
Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District – Design lead of multiple deep tunnel systems improving regional water quality.
Pittsburgh Water Reliability Program – Supporting development and implementation of a program to modernize Pittsburgh’s water infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams on water resources, water treatment, and wastewater projects from planning through construction.
Provide strategic oversight and technical leadership on projects involving water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, stormwater systems, pipelines, and pump stations.
Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
Drive business development by identifying new opportunities and leading proposal efforts.
Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships to support long‑term success.
Apply engineering principles to solve complex challenges and deliver high‑quality outcomes.
Estimate project costs and support commercial planning.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of experience in engineering and/or project management.
Proven experience with public or private water and wastewater utilities in the U.S.
Strong background in planning, design, and delivery of water‑related infrastructure.
PE license in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain within one year); additional state licenses in the Mid‑Atlantic and Midwest a plus.
Project Management Professional certification is a strong advantage.
A collaborative leader who can mentor junior staff and manage multidisciplinary teams.
Strong commercial awareness and ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
