Position Purpose The Six Sigma Lean Black Belt will continually train our current and future leaders to solve problems using a methodical, data‑driven methodology. This position will help build a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence that impacts all aspects of our business with the goal of delivering the highest quality to our internal and external customers. The incumbent will help build leaders who promote the EFESO Pillars and Six Sigma Lean methods through training, education, mentorship, and publication.

Essential Functions

Progress multiple Six Sigma Lean projects within the facility using proven EFESO and Six Sigma Lean methodology.

Lead teams to project completion by eliminating and/or reducing priority bottlenecks identified through strategic planning, gap analysis and/or by area managers.

Communicate progress, issues, and barriers to the Pillar Team, Project Champion, Process Owner, and other managers as required.

Assist management in transforming the culture to one focused on continual improvement and the pursuit of operational excellence through learning, teaching, and coaching.

Communicate the vision of SSAB One through EFESO Pillars and Six Sigma Lean project routes.

Use programs such as Excel and Minitab to statistically analyze data in order to implement the best solutions.

Collect and evaluate data from various sources for accurateness to conduct the correct statistical analysis.

Onsite presence required.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an Associate’s degree and equivalent job experience.

Previous experience with continuous improvement tools and projects.

Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Strong computer skills, including MS365, with the ability to navigate multiple databases.

Demonstrated analytical capability and problem‑solving skills using Six Sigma Lean methodology.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a steel manufacturing operation (ideally in plate), preferably with a technical background.

Completion of Six Sigma Lean Green Belt training or certification.

Active participation as a team member or leader of an improvement project.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Sitting: ~4 hours at a time; average 4 hours a day.

Standing: ~3 hours at a time; average 3 hours a day.

Walking: ~1 hour at a time; average 1 hour.

Alternate sitting and standing as needed throughout the 8‑hour shift.

Talking: person to person, on the phone, and in group settings.

Hearing: in person, on the phone, and in group settings.

Vision: near, midrange, far, and peripheral.

Depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Occasional requirements: balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or climb; twist at waist level; reach above shoulder level; handle, grip, hold, and grasp with both hands together or separately; feel with both hands together or separately; sense temperature and textures with both hands together or separately.

Conditions: indoors/outdoors; extreme hot and cold; wet and humid; amid fumes, dust, dirt, and smoke; amid noise; amid mechanical, electrical, chemical, and industrial magnetic hazards.

Position Type – Work Hours – Travel Requirements

Full time, exempt.

Eight‑hour day shift Monday – Friday.

Onsite presence required.

Travel expected to comprise less than 33% of work hours.
