Business Development Manager – Preclinical Services (DMPK / Bioanalysis / Toxicology) Location: Ideally San Diego or surrounding area (West Coast candidates preferred)
Compensation: $130–150k base + bonus (flexible for exceptional candidates)
Are you a scientifically grounded commercial professional who loves building relationships and driving meaningful partnerships in drug development? A fast‑growing preclinical research organization is expanding its BD team and is looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of science and strategy.
This company specializes in DMPK, Bioanalysis, and Toxicology services supporting both GLP and non‑GLP drug development. They partner closely with biotechs and pharmas to deliver the high‑quality preclinical data that moves therapies toward clinical success.
If you’ve sold in vivo / in vitro preclinical services and enjoy translating scientific needs into well‑crafted proposals, this role could be a strong next step.
What You’ll Be Doing
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across in vitro ADME, in vivo PK/TK, GLP bioanalysis, and toxicology
Own the RFP/RFQ process — managing proposals, pricing, timelines, and SOWs
Collaborate daily with internal DMPK, Bioanalysis, Toxicology, Ops, QA, and Finance teams
Build and maintain key biotech/pharma client relationships
Support pricing strategy, quote approvals, and revenue forecasting
Represent the company at conferences, client visits, and industry events
Provide scientific context and clarity in proposals and presentations
What They’re Looking For
A strong scientific foundation — ideally MS or PhD (but BS with relevant experience also welcome)
3–5 years of Business Development experience within a CRO or preclinical services environment
Hands‑on or working knowledge of DMPK, PK/TK, LC‑MS/MS bioanalysis, or toxicology
Proven ability to generate accurate study quotes, proposals, and SOWs
Organizational strength and comfort coordinating across multiple internal teams
CRM fluency (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
A motivated, client‑focused mindset — someone who enjoys both the technical and the commercial sides of BD
Why This Is a Great Opportunity
You’ll be joining a growing organization with strong scientific leadership, expanding capabilities, and a high demand for its services. This is a chance to have real ownership over your territory, your client relationships, and your revenue impact, not just manage accounts but help shape a growing business.
