Douglas County School District is looking for a dynamic supervisor to support our evening summer camp programs. Applicants must be available for the entire summer, including staff training and all program dates. Job Description
Provides support to counselors and campers, along with the head staff team. Responsible for supervising 12 counselors, 5 Junior Counselor volunteers, and up to 90 campers across residential and day camp settings. Manages the daily camp store and camp-wide evening programs. Facilitates recreational activities and leadership programming for groups of 12 campers. Collaborates with Stone Canyon Administration and Counselors to deliver an outstanding camp experience, fostering meaningful connections among staff, volunteers, and campers, and promoting cohesiveness within the residential setting. Responsibilities
Lead songs and group games. Communicate all camper concerns (behavior, health, emotional) to the Summer Camp Manager with proper documentation. Act as on‑duty to lock up site and answer any calls from the cabins once a week. Assist with Junior Counselor volunteer supervision through arrival day orientation and feedback. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Plan, prepare, and facilitate 60‑90 minute recreational and leadership activities. Assist with daily general cleaning of residential and program areas. Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all staff and campers. Support kitchen staff and supervise campers during meal times. Operate daily camp store, tracking camper accounts, inventory supplies, and managing purchasing. Supervise 12 counselors and up to 70 campers in residential camp and 90 campers in day camp. Deliver 90‑minute camp‑wide evening programs. Qualifications
High School Diploma. Minimum age 21 years. CPR/First Aid certification. Experience operating a John Deere Gator. Physical ability to hike, lift 20‑50 pounds occasionally, lift 50‑100 pounds occasionally, and perform frequent bending, squatting, or standing. Comfortable working in inclement weather (heat, snow, rain, sleet) and at high elevation. Strong communication skills in English (oral and written). Capacity to connect positively with school‑aged children, implement constructive feedback, manage time and organization, and maintain a positive attitude. Familiarity with field or campus safety protocols. Possess 1.0 FTE, 40 hours weekly, and ability to commit to full summer schedule. Benefits & Compensation
Stipend ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 USD for full‑time (1.0 FTE) positions. Minimum $1.00, maximum $1,500 stipend. Eligibility for voluntary 401(k), 403(b), and 457 retirement plans. Eligibility for paid sick time. Schedule
Full‑time (1.0 FTE), 40 scheduled hours per week. Primary location: Outdoor Education Center. Position is seasonal, open until filled but not past March 4, 2026.
