Job Description We are seeking a
Mid‑Level Financial Management Analyst/Consultant
to support the Department of Navy (DoN) and Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) in Washington, D.C. This is a full‑time, onsite position located at the Washington Navy Yard. You will be working with a team of consultants to provide specialized accounting and financial management to government clients. This role combines independent tasking with daily collaboration across teams and clients.
Key Focus Areas
Supporting complex financial Planning, Programming, Budgeting, Execution (PPBE) and programmatic issues
Developing and executing DoD budgets and annual financial spend plans
Performing account analysis/reconciliation, variance analysis, financial tracking, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Advising clients on key financial and operational issues
Responsibilities
Enter financial data into government systems (e.g., Navy ERP, Standard Procurement System, or successors)
Assist with budget preparation, cost tracking, and variance reviews
Measure organizational performance and assess program/policy impacts on budgets
Research financial and economic developments affecting spending
Adhere to guidelines and policies governing the formulation and maintenance of budgets and spend plans
Manage finances across multiple funding types and coordinate with various stakeholders
Prepare and present financial budgets, reports, analyses, and executive summaries
Develop recommendations and courses of action (COAs) for financial issues
Interpret and apply financial management policies, regulations, and strategic goals
Desired Skills & Experience
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in fast‑paced team environments or independently
Strong problem‑solving skills with minimal guidance
Ability to learn new processes, systems, and software quickly
Attention to detail and accuracy
Advanced proficiency in Excel (daily use)
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Access, Outlook)
Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
Experience with Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (N‑ERP) preferred
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
3‑7 years of Navy/DoD financial management or relevant consulting experience
DoN‑specific experience in accounting, consulting, finance, NAVWAR financial systems, and PPBE processes strongly desired
Ability to obtain a SECRET Government Security Clearance required (TS/SCI may be required for some projects)
Job Details
Position Type: Full‑time, salaried with benefits
Salary Range: $70,000–$95,000
Hours: 40 per week, Monday‑Friday
Location: Washington, D.C. (onsite at the Washington Navy Yard)
Government Security Clearance Information Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining an active security clearance. Non‑U.S. citizens are ineligible. The adjudication process evaluates overall reliability and trustworthiness, including adherence to federal laws prohibiting marijuana use (recreational, medical, or CBD).
